Technology

Finalist 2017 Irish Dental Awards “Best High Technology Practice”

Ballinrobe Dental is a fully computerised surgery. We utilise the latest technology including a computerised patient database, computerised digital radiography (X-Rays), airpolishers, Ti-Max LED handpieces (ultra quiet “drills”), Cavitron Ultrasonic scalers and computerised intra-oral cameras. An intra-oral camera is a very small camera, a few millimetres in size and is used to take precise pictures of your teeth and gums. This helps in diagnosis and allows us to record clear images that can be shown to you. The images can be saved on the patient’s records or can be printed for you, other specialists and for dental laboratories.

Ballinrobe Dental provides Nitrous Oxide Gas sedation for anxious patients, to further insure stress-free, comfortable dentistry.

LED Smart T.V. with wireless headphones is available in surgery for patients to view their favourite programmes and movies and enhance their comfort while we provide their dental care.

We have recently installed a Sirona XG 3D ready Panoramic O.P.G. with Cephalometrics which is the most advanced dental imaging equipment available globally.

It is a top of the range, state-of-the-art facility. This ultra modern, futuristic technology will be of great benefit to you, our patients. This technology will allow us to provide even better patient care, greater patient comfort, and more complex dental treatments such as Facial Aesthetic Treatments, Orthodontics and Dental Implants. It aids the dentist in the detection of Dental Decay, Periodontal Disease, Fractured Teeth and Bones of face, head and neck, Dental Abscess, Unerupted / Impacted teeth, Cancer of the head and neck.

Radiation exposure to our patients and staff at  is kept under constant surveillance via the computerised dosimetry service “Instadose”,  supplied by Medray Imaging Systems.

****VIPs visited Ballinrobe *****

Yesterday Candle of Grace (Chernobyl children) attended Ballinrobe Dental for complimentary dental treatment. This was the second year of this great event.
We had eleven super patients and a morning of fun and hugs. Ciara McHugh optometrist also provided complimentary eyecare, Yvonne and her team at devour hosted a very delicious party and the children even received "Make-over" hairstyles from Siobhan Costello and her team. Overall Mason's close in Ballinrobe was the place to be.
A big thank you to our friends who helped, including Cummins, Flowers 4 You, Bridge signs and also thanks for the messages of support from so many businesses in Ballinrobe and the region.
If you or your business want to help out next year please call Dr. Patrick at Ballinrobe Dental on 094 9521000 or check out Candle of Grace on Facebook.

Attention Snorers and their families!

Are you a snorer? Are you constantly tired? Do you wake up every morning feeling “wrecked” & never feel refreshed after a night's sleep? Snoring isn't a laughing matter. It is now recognised as a sign of a serious medical issue. If you snore you most likely suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
This means your body is starved of air (oxygen) during the night. As a result the quality of your sleep is very poor. The snoring also impacts on the sleep quality of your partner or even the entire household.

If you suffer from untreated Obstructive Sleep Apnea you are 23 times more likely to have a heart attack than someone without sleep apnea. The risk is almost the same as someone who is obese, has high blood pressure and who smokes all the time! Lancet Medical Journal 1990

2013 Research 49% of men suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea. It is also very common in women.

Signs of Obstructive Sleep Apnea:
• Snoring
• Bruxism(grinding teeth while you sleep)
• Tired during the day
• Have to take a nap during the day/ doozing and day dreaming
• High Blood Pressure
• Mood Changes, Depression, Irritability
• Have to get up to use the toilet during the night
• Suffer from Headaches in the morning.

Dr Patrick O'Beirne has trainined in the subject of “Sleep Dentistry” and is now a provider of Somnomed Continuous Open Airway Therapy. See Somnomed.com for more details.
Can't tolerate CPAP? A SomnoMed Applianc emay be the answer.
